International Association of Deposit Insurers hosted its Executive Committee Meeting 1 – 4 June, 2015 in Basel, Switzerland. Simultaneously, International Conference “Current Issues Facing Deposit Insurers” took place. The conference gathered 160 representatives of deposit insurance organizations from 50 countries worldwide to exchange expert opinion and to learn best practice in deposit insurance applied in other countries.
The conference agenda covered the current issues pertaining in deposit insurance and in application of various tools for sustaining financial stability by a deposit insurance organization. In the course of the conference the participants discussed very relevant issues, such as the financial crisis implications, market discipline and debt guarantees, the key features pertaining in the developing deposit insurance systems, evolving mandates and powers in deposit insurance, the research tools for financial regulation authorities and the prospects for global financial safety net.
International Association of Deposit Insurers was established in 2002, and nowadays gathers 79 deposit insurance organizations from 76 countries worldwide. IADI is a non-profit organization with office in Basel, Switzerland. The mission of IADI is to enhance the effectiveness of deposit insurance systems by promoting guidance and international cooperation and exchange of experience and best practice among its members.
